OAU Shut Down By Osun State Government Over Alleged N1.8bn Tax Evasion

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has been reportedly shot down by the Osun Internal Revenue Service for its failure to remit over N1.844,770,939.45 to the agency.

The institution was shut by officials of the Revenue Task Force who arrived the campus at about 7:00 on Wednesday morning.Β 

It was gathered that the officialsΒ first sealed the Senate Chamber and the administrative building before proceeding to seal the main gate, leaving the pedestrial gate unlocked.

When contacted, the school mangemnt through the Public Relation officer siad the debt was inherited from the past administration of the institution. He however stated that the issue will soon be resolved with the State Government.
