Northwest University SUG reschedules cultural carnival
The Students Union Government (SUG) of Northwest University, Kano, has officially announced a change in the date for the highly anticipated Historic Cultural Carnival.
Originally slated for tomorrow, Monday, January 26th, the event has now been moved forward by one week.
The New Schedule
Original Date: Monday, 26th January 2026
New Date: Monday, 2nd February 2026
According to the official statement released by the Office of the President, the adjustment was made due to the following key factors:
University Management Meeting: A University Management Council meeting is taking place throughout this week. The shift ensures a calm and orderly academic atmosphere during these deliberations.
Enhanced Security: The extra time allows for more robust external security arrangements to protect students, guests, and property.
Better Preparation: The extension provides cultural groups more time to perfect their performances for the landmark event, which will feature the first-ever Durbar in the university's history.
📝 Message from the SUG President
The SUG President, Amb. Abdussalam Mahmoud Ahmad, expressed his sincere apologies to the student body for any inconvenience caused by this change. He emphasized that the union remains committed to delivering a peaceful, well-organized, and memorable experience for all participants.
Students are encouraged to remain patient and use this additional week to prepare for what promises to be a historic celebration of culture.
