DELSU reschedules 18th Convocation Ceremony

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has officially announced the rescheduled activities for the 18th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session. This update applies to all regular, sandwich, SLT, weekend, part-time, and affiliate graduands, as well as their parents, guardians, and the general public.

The ceremony will include the award of Diplomas, Admission into First Degrees, and the award of Higher Degrees and Prizes according to the following updated timeline:

Schedule of Events

Collection and Return of Academic Gowns

Monday, 20th – Thursday, 30th April, 2026: Collection of Academic Gowns and Scrolls.
Monday, 4th May, 2026: Final deadline for the return of gowns.

Day 1: Friday, 24th April, 2026

Jumat Prayers for Muslim members of the DELSU Community.

Day 2: Sunday, 26th April, 2026

Pre-Convocation Service at St. Paul Catholic Chaplaincy, Site II, Abraka Campus (8:30 a.m.).

Day 3: Tuesday, 28th April, 2026

• Vice-Chancellor’s Press Conference (10:00 a.m.)
• Sports Activities / Novelty Match (4:00 p.m.)

Day 4: Wednesday, 29th April, 2026

• Convocation Lecture (10:00 a.m.)
• Convocation Drama (4:00 p.m.)

Day 5: Thursday, 30th April, 2026

Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service: Held at All Saints' Anglican Chapel, Site III, Abraka Campus (9:00 a.m.).

Alumni Day & Presentation of Awards (2:00 p.m.): Presentation of awards and prizes for First Class Graduating Students, Best Graduating Students in each Department/Faculty, and the overall three Best Students of the University.

Day 6: Saturday, 2nd May, 2026 – Convocation Day

The grand finale includes:

• Award of Diplomas, First Degrees, and Higher Degrees
• Investiture of Professor Emeritus
• Conferment of Honorary Degrees
• Award of Prizes
