Akwa Poly SUG official statement on unauthorized protest

It has come to the attention of the Student Union Government (SUG) that a protest has been announced without the knowledge, approval, or involvement of the Union.

The SUG wishes to state clearly that it is the only legitimate body responsible for coordinating and communicating any form of student action of this nature. At no time was this protest discussed, approved, or endorsed by the leadership of the student body. As such, it does not represent the collective position or interest of the students.

While the Union acknowledges that students may have concerns or grievances, there are established and recognized channels through which such matters can be formally addressed. The SUG remains fully committed to engaging with the institution's management and relevant authorities to ensure that students' voices are heard and their welfare is protected.

The Union will not support any action capable of endangering students, disrupting academic activities, interfering with the forthcoming SUG elections, or creating unnecessary tension within the academic environment without proper consultation and coordination.

ADVISORY TO STUDENTS:
All students are hereby advised to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused on their academic responsibilities. Students are further urged to disregard any unauthorized information or calls to action.

Students with genuine concerns are encouraged to channel them through their class representatives or directly to the SUG leadership for appropriate action.

The Union remains committed to serving the best interests of the student body through responsible and effective representation.
