OOU notice on Christmas/New Year Break

The Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University has approved the closure of the institution for the Christmas and New Year break, effective Friday, December 19, 2025.

This decision was contained in a decision extract from the 466th (Special) Meeting of Senate held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, as conveyed in an internal memorandum issued by the Deputy Registrar (Senate) to the Registrar.

According to the memo, the Vice-Chancellor informed Senate that the University would officially shut down on Friday, December 19, 2025, to enable staff and students observe the festive period.

However, lecturers have been directed to conclude lectures on Thursday, December 18, 2025. This measure, the Vice-Chancellor explained, is to allow students travel safely to their various destinations without any hindrance and to prevent a repeat of previous incidents in which the University lost some students to road accidents.

Senate also approved Friday, January 2, 2026, as the resumption date for academic activities.

The decision of Senate was communicated for information and necessary action.

The memorandum was signed by Mrs. Florence O. Onayinka, Deputy Registrar (Senate), with a copy forwarded to the Vice-Chancellor.
