OSPOHAS addresses security incident that occurred after the recent matriculation ceremony

The Management of Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, llese-ljebu wishes to address an incident that occurred shortly after the Matriculation Ceremony held yesterday on the Polytechnic campus.

Following the successful conclusion of the ceremony, a security situation arose on the school field when an individual who was not a student of the institution was reportedly found smoking an illegal substance by a police officer on duty.

In the course of the interaction, the SUG President was unfortunately assaulted by a police officer while he was trying to contain the situation and understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

However, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Polytechnic promptly intervened and involved the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the llese Police Station. The matter was subsequently addressed and resolved amicably at the police station through dialogue and mutual understanding, and normalcy was restored without further incident.

The Management frowns at the act and reiterates its commitment to protecting the dignity and safety of all members of the Polytechnic community as we appreciate the swift intervention of the security team in ensuring that the situation did not escalate.

The Polytechnic Management wishes to assure students, staff, parents and the general public that the institution maintains a strong commitment to maintaining peace, order and discipline on campus.

The Management appreciates the efforts of the SUG President for his prompt intervention in attempting to contain the situation and maintain order, and urges students to remain law-abiding and conduct themselves responsibly at all times within and outside the campus community.
