Police finally arrest IAUE staff accused of defiling a teenager

The Rivers State Police Command has finally arrested a 60-year-old security officer with the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), accused of abducting and raping a 16-year old girl. Read here

A human rights group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign who got involved in the case, had accused the management of IAUE of shielding the suspect Mgbechi Wekwea, security personnel of the institution and evading justice.

In a Facebook post made by the group, it confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Port Harcourt.
