PERCEPTION OF ON MEDIA COVERAGE OF BOKO-HARAM INSURGENCY IN NIGERIA.

ABSTRACT
Nigeria has, no doubt, witnessed and still witnessing several forms of conflict in both the North and Southern divides; one of such devastating in the country is the present one in the Northern Nigeria the Islamic sect, Boko-Haram. In consonance with the above, this study examines the audience perception of channel television coverage of Boko-Haram Insurgency in Borno State. The research adopts the survey method in eliciting information from respondents. This study has shown that channels television has not played major role in showing the way forward in curbing the insurgency in Borno State. This work recommend that channel television coverage of Boko-Haram should not just be to inform the audience but should also help the people toΒ know how to guide their lives and property and must rise to the task of combating insecurity in the nation through the kind of coverage given to them.
