PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA’S DIGITAL CURRENCY (E-NAIRA)
 
ABSTRACT
This study intends to evaluate the problems and prospects of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s digital currency (e-Naira). This study was guided by the following objectives; to examine the problems associated with the introduction of CBN’s digital currency (e-Naira), to examine the challenges of e-Naira in relation to paper Naira, to identify prospects of e-Naira to Nigerian economy. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 100 residents of Abuja, FCT, Nigeria. The study findings revealed that acceptability is a major problem faced by CBN’s digital currency; based on the findings from the study, there should be proper awareness of CBN’s digital currency to Nigerians both home and abroad.
