INTRODUCTION
1.1ย ย ย ย Background to the Study
Todayโs business environment is characterized by intense competition. The reason is that globalization has attracted so much break-through in technology. There has also been startling and changing employment legislation as well as changing workforce composition. All these developments have made it imperative that managers must utilize their employees more effectively to gain competitive business advantage over others (Scot and Bateman, 2009). Therefore, achieving success amidst the constant demand and the uncertainty of todayโs world of business, often seems like a massive task and it is the one that no one can hope to carry through without the cooperation and enthusiasm of the staff at all levels of the organization. Success in todayโs business world means recognizing and managing changes before they take control of us. It means developing our organizations in such a way that they will enable them to turn the threat of change into an opportunity for growth and sustainable development to ensue. However, the task will be almost impossible unless we ensure that our people are fully involved in the organizational functions to drive the change process (Eromafuru, 2010).
