Public Universities need all the necessary support they can get - FUOYE VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Kayode Soremekun has solicited the support of stakeholders to pull their weight around public universities in the country and provide the necessary material and financial assistance.

The VC stated that the government, in view of its numerous responsibilities, cannot finance the education sector alone and needed the collaboration of key stakeholders.

Prof. Soremekun remarked that the support from stakeholders will enable institutions to be up to date in the areas of academics, infrastructure and research. He added that the gesture will bring about the development of public universities.

He further called on the assistance of local government authorities, corporate organizations, parents and relevant stakeholders, stressing that university education was financially demanding because of the low fees being charged in public universities.
