RSUST SUG welcomes students back on campus, warns against unrecognized associations

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Rivers State University (RSU) has officially welcomed students back to campus as academic activities resume for the new session. In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Comr. Akiri Destiny Ugochukwu, the union extended warm greetings to all returning students and urged them to remain focused on academic and personal development.

The SUG emphasized the importance of maintaining good behavior both on and off campus, particularly on social media platforms. Students were cautioned against sharing unverified information, false claims, or misleading content that could harm the university’s reputation.

Addressing recent misconceptions, the union clarified that there is no recognized organization within the university operating under the name “Rivers State University Influencers Association (RSUIA)”. The statement reaffirmed that only the School Management and the Students’ Union Government (SUG) are officially authorized to disseminate information regarding the institution.

Students were therefore advised to disregard any messages or activities from unrecognized bodies claiming such authority. The SUG further warned that anyone found engaging in unauthorized practices would face appropriate disciplinary action in line with the university’s rules and regulations.

The message concluded with a note of encouragement, calling on all students to work together for a productive, peaceful, and successful session.
