Saadu Zungur University SRC notice to students on safety awareness

Benjamin 4 months ago

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Sa’adu Zungur University has issued a vital safety notice to all students, urging heightened vigilance when using commercial motorcycles (Achaba) and tricycles (Napep), collectively known as "Okada."

The advisory, released today, follows past incidents involving the loss of personal belongings, including mobile phones, foodstuffs, and other valuables, causing distress to affected students.

To enhance safety and accountability, the SRC emphasized the university’s existing rider identification system. Students are strongly advised to note the following before boarding any Okada:

· Blue Jacket – Identifies a Napep (Tricycle) rider.

· Orange Jacket – Identifies an Achaba (Motorcycle) rider.

· Green Jacket – Worn by leaders or supervisors of both rider groups, often marked on the back.

Crucially, students should observe both the color of the rider’s jacket and the exact identification number printed on it.

“In the event that you forget an item or experience any issue, you are encouraged to report immediately to the Security Office,” the notice stated. “Records are available there to assist in identifying the rider and taking appropriate action.”

The SRC reiterated that this measure is a key step toward student protection and encouraged everyone to take the awareness seriously.
