SAZU announces temporary closure of the university

Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi State, has announced the temporary closure of the institution following directives from the Commissioner, Ministry of Higher Education and Regional Integration, acting on the instruction of the Executive Governor of the state.

According to an internal memo issued by the Office of the Registrar on Monday, November 24, 2025, the closure affects all learning activities with immediate effect. The university management approved the shutdown to comply with the government’s directive concerning the temporary closure of all learning institutions.

Staff members providing essential services are expected to continue offering their services as needed.

The memo further advised students who may not be traveling during this period to remain vigilant and stay at home for their safety. It also stated that the earlier resumption date contained in the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar has been postponed until further notice.
