Southern Delta University announces maiden convocation ceremony for 2024/2025 session

Southern Delta University (formerly Delta State University of Science and Technology), Ozoro, has announced the schedule of activities for its maiden convocation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session.

According to an official bulletin released on Monday, February 9, 2026 (S.E. Vol. 1, No. 208), the week-long convocation activities will commence on Sunday, February 22, 2026, and end on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

The programme will begin with a church service at the Annunciation Catholic Church, SDU, Ozoro, on Sunday, February 22, from 7:00am to 10:00am. This will be followed by a novelty match at the SDU Stadium on Monday, February 23, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm.

On Tuesday, February 24, the Vice-Chancellor’s Press Conference is scheduled to hold from 11:00am to 1:00pm, while the Convocation Lecture will take place on Wednesday, February 25, between 11:00am and 2:00pm.

The Science, Technology and Innovation Exhibition will be held on Thursday, February 26, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The main convocation ceremony, which includes the award of prizes and commissioning of projects, is slated for Friday, February 27, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Activities will be rounded off with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Diocese of Ozoro, from 7:00am to 10:00am.

The university management has enjoined staff and members of the university community to actively participate in the historic event, described as the first of its kind in the institution.
