UNIJOS SUG security advisory

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of University of Jos has released a security advisory to students following a recent incident in the Angwan Rukuba area involving reports of gunshots and loss of lives.

In a press statement dated March 30, 2026, the union leadership urged students to remain calm, vigilant, and security-conscious, emphasizing that student safety remains a top priority.

The SUG advised students to avoid unnecessary movements, particularly during late hours, and to stay in groups where possible while avoiding isolated areas. Students were also encouraged to remain within safe and secure locations and to promptly report any suspicious activities or movements to relevant authorities or school security units.

According to the statement, the union is actively monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with appropriate authorities to ensure the safety of all students.

The SUG further encouraged students to stay alert without panicking and to strictly follow all safety guidelines, assuring that further updates will be communicated as necessary.
