Sule Lamido University announces 2nd Combined Convocation Ceremony
The management of Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa (SLUK), Jigawa State, has officially announced activities lined up for its 2nd Combined Convocation Ceremony. The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Congregation and the entire university community, has extended an invitation to members of the public to attend the historic academic celebration.
The convocation programme will run between April 10 and April 11, 2026 and will feature a series of academic and ceremonial events including a convocation lecture, investiture ceremony, conferment of first degrees, and the presentation of academic prizes to deserving graduates.
Convocation Lecture
The convocation activities will commence with a Convocation Lecture scheduled to hold on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lecture Hall B, Career and Income Development Centre of the university.
The lecture will be delivered by Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, FCSN, MNIM, who currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The lecture is titled: βClimate Resilient Agriculture and Youth Engagement: Strategies for Transforming the Agricultural Sector in Jigawa State and Beyond.β The lecture will examine the role of innovative agricultural practices and youth participation in strengthening food security and economic development.
The event will be chaired by His Excellency Alhaji Umar Namadi, FCA, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State.
Main Convocation Ceremony
The grand convocation ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Convocation Arena of the university's main campus, located along Kano Road, Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State.
A major highlight of the ceremony will be the Investiture of the 2nd Chancellor of the University, HRH Alhaji Umar Faruk II, OON, the Emir of Katagum.
During the ceremony, the university will also confer First Degrees on graduating students and present academic prizes and awards to outstanding graduates in recognition of their academic excellence and achievements.
The convocation ceremony represents an important milestone in the history of Sule Lamido University, celebrating the academic accomplishments of its students and reaffirming the institutionβs commitment to excellence in teaching, research and community development.
