UNIABUJA Sultan Maccido Institute opens admission for 2025/2026 session

The Sultan Maccido Institute for Peace, Leadership and Development Studies at the University of Abuja has announced the commencement of admissions into its various professional and postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The institute is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates from diverse academic backgrounds, including Engineering, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Arts, Military, Paramilitary, Agriculture, Education, Taxation, and Law.

Available Programmes:

The institute offers a wide range of courses under the following categories:

· Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): Peace and Security Studies; Leadership and Discipline; Society and Development Studies; Criminology and Security Studies; Emergency and Disaster Management Studies.

· Master’s Degree (MSc): Peace and Security Studies; Leadership and Discipline; Society and Development Studies; Criminology and Security Studies; Emergency and Disaster Management Studies.

· Professional PhD: Peace and Security; Leadership and Discipline; Society and Development Studies; Criminology and Security Studies; Emergency and Disaster Management Studies.

· Certificate Courses: Oil and Gas Security Studies; Maritime Security Studies; Disaster and Safety Management Studies; Election and Violence Management Studies.

General Admission Requirements:

Prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Possess a minimum of five (5) O'Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, at not more than two sittings.

2. Hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline (not below Second Class Lower division). For PGD programmes, a minimum of Lower Credit from a Higher National Diploma (HND) or its equivalent is acceptable.

3. Provide an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.

4. For Professional PhD programmes, candidates must fulfill the university's matriculation requirements and possess a basic degree, a professional master's, and an MSc in a relevant field.

Additional Information:

· All prospective candidates will undergo a screening exercise to determine their eligibility.

· Programme durations are as follows:

  · Postgraduate Diploma: 9-24 months

  · Master’s Degree: 18-35 months

  · Professional PhD: 3-7 years

  · Certificate Courses: As required

The application fee is ₦20,500 for Nigerian applicants, with an equivalent amount for foreign candidates.
