The Directorate of Teaching Professionalism and Mentoring has released the official procedure and timeline for candidates of the 2025 Professional Qualifying Examination for Teachers (PQEI) to apply for their TRCN certificate and licence.

According to the published notice, the certification process is categorised based on academic qualifications, with corresponding fees:

Β· Category C candidates (holders of B.Ed and Post Graduate Diploma in Education) are to pay N32,500.

Β· Category D candidates (holders of NCE) are to pay N21,500.

Prospective applicants are to make payments into the designated TRCN account at COEmicrofinance Bank. The specific account number is to be obtained directly from the Directorate.

Required Documents:

After payment, candidates must present evidence of payment at the Directorate to complete the certification form. They are required to come along with the following documents:

1. National Identification Number (NIN) Slip

2. Birth Certificate

3. Original O’Level Result

4. Statement of Result/Certificate (Degree for Category C, NCE for Category D)

5. Three Recent Passport Photographs

The Directorate has set a strict window for this process. All payments and submissions must be completed between 2nd February 2026 and 30th September 2026. Failure to comply within this period will risk the invalidation of the candidate's PQEI result.

Authorities strongly advise all candidates to visit the Directorate of Teaching Professionalism and Mentoring for further details and clarification before proceeding with any payment.

All eligible 2025 PQEI candidates are urged to take note of the requirements and the crucial deadline to secure their professional certification and teaching licence.
