Two men hired by UNICAL for hostel renovation arrested for stealing

Two men hired by the management of the University of Calabar for maintenance work have been arrested for stealing electrical appliances including pressing irons and lamp holders at the students' hostel.

The men were arrested by security operatives attached to the university on Friday, during a stop-and-search of all vehicles entering the campus and those going out.

It was gathered that the two men were among workers hired for the ongoing renovation work in the institution's hostels, and they confessed to have stolen the items from the hostel after the close of work.

They were handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.
