The University of Ibadan (UI) has announced Wednesday, 11 March 2026, as the date for its 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony, scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre.

In a official notice addressed to all matriculants, the management congratulated the fresh students on their admission into the Premier University, describing the ceremony as a significant milestone in their academic journey as it marks their formal admission into the "Tower of Learning."

The university urged all fresh students to carefully adhere to the instructions outlined in the notice.

According to the guidelines, attendance at the ceremony is mandatory for all new students, while parents and visitors will be required to follow proceedings online via the university's website. The management clarified that parents and visitors are not permitted to bring food into the venue, and no form of partying or social gathering will be allowed during the event.

Matriculants are to collect their academic outfits from their respective Faculties starting Monday, 9 March 2026, upon presentation of the university receipt confirming payment for the session. The notice stressed that outfits will not be distributed at the venue and must be returned to Faculty Officers within 48 hours after the ceremony. Failure to do so will attract a daily surcharge of N1,000, while damage to the gown or cap will result in fines of N20,000 and N10,000, respectively.

Students are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m., with arrival at the venue scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Proper dressing is mandatory, and female students are advised to secure their caps with hair pins. The tassels on the caps should be worn to the right throughout the event.

Movement in and out of the hall during the ceremony will not be permitted, and latecomers will not be allowed entry once the Academic Procession begins. Nursing mothers have been directed to sit in the gallery for convenience.

After the ceremony, matriculants are required to sign the matriculation register at their respective Faculties, except for those from the College of Medicine, who will sign at the conference centre. Additionally, students must download and complete the Affidavit in support of the Matriculation Oath from the university’s website and submit it to their Faculties.

The university wished all matriculants a successful academic journey.
