UI Governing Council meetings suspended by the FG

It has been reported that the Federal Ministry of Education has approved the suspension of all meetings of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan.

This decision was contained in a letter to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission by the Permanent Secretary of the Education Ministry, Mr. Sonny Echono on Monday, February 8th, 2021.

Recall that the selection process for the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor of the University was suspended in November last year due to multiple allegations of malpractices.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Professor Babatunde Ekanola was then  elected in an acting capacity for the next six months
