UNIBEN reschedules orientation and matriculation ceremony, 2025/2026

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) Management has announced a slight adjustment to the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar concerning the Matriculation and Orientation ceremonies for newly admitted students.

In a circular issued by the Registrar, Mr. Ademola A. Bobola, on Monday, 15th December 2025, the University stated that while the academic session commenced as planned on 10th November 2025, a significant number of newly admitted students are yet to complete their clearance processes.

Citing the need to accommodate these students and considering the festive period filling the remainder of the year, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, on behalf of the Senate, has approved the rescheduling of the events.

The new dates are as follows:

· Orientation Programme: Monday, 26th January 2026

· Matriculation Programme: Wednesday, 28th January 2026

The programmes were originally scheduled for 17th and 19th December 2025, respectively. The University Management has directed all Deans, Directors, staff, students, parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to take note of this adjustment for compliance.

Academic activities, including lectures, which commenced across departments following the approved timetable, are expected to continue uninterrupted.
