UNIBEN update regarding the strike action by NASU, SSANU

This is to inform the University Community that the National Leadership of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Non-Acadermic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has issued a notice of indefinite strike action to commence on 1 May, 2026.

Expectedly, critical areas of the Uiversity operations will be affected by the strike action including the normal routine for the supply of electricity and water. Members of the University Community are therefore enjoined to be sparing in their use of these amenities during the period of the strike action, especially in view of the fact that the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 academic session has since commenced, and students have returned to the Campus.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, and the University Management have expressed hope that the issues that led to the strike action will be amicably resolved as soon as possible in order to restore normalcy to the University's activities.
