UNIJOS Students Forum safety notice to students

The Faculty Presidents’ Forum of the University of Jos has issued an important safety advisory to all students following the current tension within Jos metropolis and its environs.

In a statement released to the student community, the Forum strongly advised students to remain vigilant and prioritize their personal safety at all times.

Students have been encouraged to stay within the safety and comfort of their homes and only go out when absolutely necessary. The Forum urged everyone to avoid reckless or unnecessary movement until normalcy is fully restored.

The statement further emphasized the importance of staying informed through credible news platforms and verified sources for accurate updates. Students were cautioned against the circulation of unverified information, noting that such actions could escalate tension and cause unnecessary panic.

In the spirit of unity and solidarity, students were reminded to be their brothers’ keepers by checking on one another, looking out for friends and course mates, and ensuring that everyone around them remains safe.

The Forum expressed confidence in security agencies in Plateau State to effectively manage the situation and restore calm as quickly as possible. However, it stressed that individual responsibility remains key, reaffirming that students’ safety is of utmost importance.
