UNIJOS shifts resumption date by 1 week

The Student Union Government (SUG), University of Jos, wishes to update all students on its engagements with University Management regarding the continuation of academic activities.

Initially, University Management directed that examinations would resume on the 7th. The SUG strongly advocated for an extension due to the prevailing challenges faced by students. Following this engagement, Management approved an additional one week, shifting the resumption date to the 13th.

However, the SUG maintained that the added one week was still insufficient, considering factors such as students’ travel distances and the emotional strain experienced by many. Consequently, the Union continued engagements with the Vice-Chancellor and Management, pushing for further extension.

Despite these efforts, Management remained firm on the 13th resumption date.

In order to fairly represent the student body, the SUG conducted a poll to ascertain students’ positions. The results revealed that a significant number of students preferred to return and complete their examinations.

In line with this outcome, the SUG has aligned with the collective will of students. Consequently, academic activities, including examinations, will resume on the 13th.

The SUG is currently engaging Management to ensure that all promised security measures are fully implemented to guarantee the safety of students within the campus and its environs.

Students are advised to prepare accordingly and remain vigilant at all times.

Thank you.
