UNILAG announces 9th Inaugural Lecture for 2025/2026 session

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced that its 9th Inaugural Lecture for the 2025/2026 Academic Session will take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. The lecture is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m., while guests are expected to be seated by 3:45 p.m.

The event will be held at the J. F. Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium located at the University’s main campus in Akoka, Lagos.

The lecture will be delivered by Professor Simeon Oluwatoyin Ayoola of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Faculty of Life Sciences.

Professor Ayoola’s lecture is titled: “Fisheries, The Nature’s Gift to Humanity: Coalescing the Aquatic Environment Conservation with Sustainable Fish Production.” The presentation will explore the importance of fisheries to humanity and the need to combine aquatic environmental conservation with sustainable fish production to ensure long-term food security and ecological balance.

The University has extended an open invitation to members of the university community and the general public to attend the lecture and participate in the academic discourse.

The inaugural lecture series is one of the major academic traditions of the University of Lagos, providing a platform for professors to present their research contributions and share knowledge with the academic community and the public.
