UNIMAID bans vehicles with tinted glasses and covered number plates
The University of Maiduguri Security Division, under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, has issued a formal notice regarding the unauthorized use of vehicles with tinted glasses and obscured number plates on campus.
Following the 137th Meeting of the Top Management Committee, the university expressed serious concern over the continued disregard for existing regulations. In response, a strict enforcement directive has been established to ensure the safety and security of the university community.
Enforcement Details and Deadlines
- Grace Period: All vehicle owners are granted a one-week grace period from March 27, 2026, to comply with the directive.
- Mandatory Action: Owners are advised to remove all window tints and ensure number plates are fully visible.
- Enforcement Team: After the grace period expires, the Tinted Glasses Enforcement Team is authorized to physically remove tints from any vehicle found within the university premises.
The Security Division emphasizes that these measures are critical to maintaining security, safety, and orderliness across the campus. Full cooperation is expected from all staff, students, and visitors.
