UNIMAID SUG notice on temporary hike in Transport Fare
The Students' Union Government (SUG), University of Maiduguri, wishes to inform the student body that it has received an official notification regarding the increase in transportation fare by the UNIMAID Keke Napep Operators within the campus.
According to the notification issued by the association, the transportation fare has been adjusted from #100 to #150 due to the recent increase in the price of petroleum products across the country, which has significantly affected the operational cost of tricycle services within the University.
The Students' Union Government engaged with the relevant stakeholders and wishes to inform students that this adjustment is temporary. It has been agreed that the transportation fare will return to the normal rate once fuel prices stabilize and are reduced.
We therefore appeal to all students to remain calm and patient, as this temporary adjustment is aimed at ensuring that the tricycle operators can continue providing transportation services, especially considering the current shortage of tricycles operating within the campus.
The Students' Union Government remains committed to protecting the welfare of students while also engaging stakeholders to ensure fairness and sustainability in campus transportation.
Further updates will be communicated as developments unfold.
