The Management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has officially announced the date and schedule for its 47th Matriculation Ceremony, welcoming the 2025/2026 intake of first-year students.

According to a memorandum released by the Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Goodnews Ijah, on behalf of the Registrar, the ceremony is set to hold on Tuesday, 10th February 2026. The event will commence at 10:00 a.m. at the New Convocation Arena, University Park.

Schedule and Protocol

All matriculating students are strictly advised to be seated at the venue by 8:30 a.m. to ensure an orderly start to the proceedings. The ceremony will feature the traditional academic procession by members of the University Senate.

Notably, the University has placed a ban on photography inside the Arena during the ceremony to maintain the solemnity of the event.

Requirements for Students

The University administration has outlined several critical steps for students to complete before and after the ceremony:

Matriculation Pledge: Students must print a copy of the Matriculation Pledge online. This document will be signed after the official Oath is taken at the Arena and must be returned to the respective College Secretary or Faculty Officer following the ceremony.

Academic Outfits (Full-Time): Starting from Thursday, 29th January 2026, full-time students should proceed to their Faculty or College with their receipt of school charges to collect their academic gowns. The University explicitly states that no additional payments should be made for any other document or service at the Faculty level.

Academic Outfits (Part-Time): Part-time students are directed to contact the College Secretary at the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) for the collection and return of their outfits.

Gown Return: All academic gowns must be returned to the Faculty or College no later than Friday, 20th February 2026.

University officials urge all students to comply with these directives to ensure a smooth and successful matriculation exercise.
