UNIUYO SUG notice on temporary suspension on the use of fields

The Students’ Union of the University of Uyo has issued a formal notice suspending all football matches and tournaments from Thursday, 29th January, to Friday, 6th February 2026.

The suspension is to allow for the smooth hosting of the UNIUYO Freshers Olympics, which will require full use of the Annex Field and Town Campus Field throughout the event.

In a statement signed by Comr. Abasifreke Job, the Students’ Union Director of Sports, all students, football teams, and coordinators were directed to comply strictly with the directive.

The Union also encouraged the student body to come out in full support of the freshers as they compete and display their sporting talents during the Olympics.

The notice expressed appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of the university community toward ensuring a successful and memorable sporting event.
