UNIUYO Students Union enforces advertisement and publicity regulations

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Students’ Union, University of Uyo (UNIUYO), has announced the strict enforcement of advertisement and publicity regulations within the University community.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Directorate reminded all students, students’ bodies and associations, as well as external brands that, in line with Section 15(e) of the Solidarity Constitution of the Students’ Union, it remains the sole body responsible for the coordination, regulation, and supervision of banner hoisting, bill posting, and all forms of advertisement and publicity activities within student spaces.

While reaffirming its respect for the overriding authority and policies of the University of Uyo Management, the Directorate emphasized that it is constitutionally empowered to ensure order, proper documentation, and regulation of all publicity activities affecting students.

Consequently, no banner, poster, billboard, handbill, or any other publicity material is permitted to be mounted, distributed, or displayed within the University without prior approval and supervision of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

All requests relating to advertisements, event publicity, or posting of materials must be formally directed to the Office of the Director for vetting, registration, and authorization. The Directorate warned that any publicity material displayed without due approval will be removed immediately, and the concerned parties duly notified.

The notice, according to the Directorate, is issued in fulfillment of its constitutional responsibilities and in harmony with existing University Management regulations, with the aim of promoting proper coordination, accountability, and institutional order within the University of Uyo.
