UNIUYO SUG announces resumption of weekly general sports training for students
In a bid to enhance campus sports culture and discover new athletic talents, the Office of the Students’ Union Director of Sports, University of Uyo, has officially announced the continuation of the General Training Sessions for all students.
The initiative comes as a direct response to student interests and requests for better access to sports participation across the university's various campuses.
The training sessions are scheduled to take place every Saturday. All interested students, regardless of their skill level, are invited to participate to improve their fitness, develop sporting skills, and engage with the campus athletic community.
Venue: Town Campus Sports Facilities (Including the Mini Stadium, Volleyball, Basketball, and Tennis Courts).
Requirements: All participating students are strictly advised to arrive in their appropriate sports kits.
Available Sporting Activities
The program features a wide array of sports to cater to diverse interests, including:
Field & Ball Games: Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, and Rugby.
Combat Sports: Taekwondo, Karate, and Judo.
Racket & Track: Lawn Tennis and Track & Field events.
Indoor Games: Scrabble and more.
A Call to Unity and Excellence
According to the statement signed by the Students’ Union Director of Sports, Comr. Abasifreke Job, the primary goal of these sessions is to foster unity among students and strengthen the spirit of sportsmanship within the institution.
"Let’s train, compete, and reignite the spirit of Uniuyo sports together," the announcement concluded.
