UNIBEN ends 1st semester, sets resumption date for 2nd Semester, 2025/2026

The University of Benin has officially announced the completion of the first semester for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Registrar and dated April 14, 2026, the university stated that first semester examinations will conclude on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, marking the official end of the semester.

According to the notice, students are to proceed on a semester break starting Thursday, April 16, 2026. The second semester is scheduled to commence on Sunday, April 26, 2026, with students expected to return to their halls of residence on that date. Lectures across all faculties and schools will begin on Monday, April 27, 2026.

The university management also directed that all students must vacate the halls of residence on or before 12 noon on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in observance of the break.

On behalf of the management, Vice Chancellor Edoba B. Omoregie commended both staff and students for their dedication and cooperation throughout the semester. He encouraged students to make good use of the break period to rest and prepare for the upcoming academic session.
