UNILORIN Students' Union announces adjusted transport fares

The University of Ilorin Students' Union has released a formal statement regarding an adjustment to campus transport fares, effective Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Following extensive negotiations with local transport operators, the Union has established new fare guidelines in response to the current rise in fuel prices. These measures are designed to mitigate the impact of the economic situation on the student body while balancing the operational requirements of transport providers.

Approved Fare Adjustments

The newly approved rates for campus transport services are:

• Gate to School (Korope): ₦200
• Post Office to Gate: ₦450
• Terminus to Gate (Korope): ₦200

Operational Guidelines

In the official statement, the Union leadership emphasized that these rates are not arbitrary but the result of careful deliberation aimed at ensuring fairness for all parties. Furthermore, the Union reaffirmed that the strictly mandated sitting arrangement remains 3-3-2. Overloading or cases of extortion will not be tolerated, and students are strongly encouraged to report any violations of these guidelines.
