UNN announces Orientation Programme for 2025/2026 Postgraduate Students

The College of Postgraduate Studies (CPGS) has officially released the schedule for the mandatory orientation programme for all fresh postgraduate students admitted into the Nsukka and Enugu campuses for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This comprehensive two-day event is designed to introduce new students to the academic culture, resources, and support systems available within the university.

Day 1: Tuesday, March 31st, 2026 – Departmental and Faculty Orientation

The first day focuses on local integration at the student's respective departments and faculties.

Departmental Sessions (9:00 AM – 11:30 AM)

  • 9:00 AM: Opening Prayer
  • 9:05 AM: Address by the Head of Department
  • 9:25 AM: Address by the Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator
  • 9:40 AM: Address by a Senior Academic
  • 10:00 AM: Q&A and Student Feedback
  • 10:20 AM: Closing Prayer
  • 10:25 AM: Tour of Departmental Teaching and Research Facilities

Faculty Sessions (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)

  • 2:00 PM: Opening Prayer
  • 2:05 PM: Address by the Dean of Faculty
  • 2:20 PM: Address by the Faculty Representative to the CPGS Board
  • 2:45 PM: Address by the Immediate Past Dean or Senior Academic
  • 3:00 PM: Q&A and Student Feedback
  • 3:20 PM: Closing Prayer
  • 3:25 PM: Tour of Faculty Research Facilities and Library

Day 2: Wednesday, April 1st, 2026 – General Online Orientation

The second day will be held virtually, featuring key addresses from university leadership and specialized presentations:

  • 10:00 AM: Opening Prayer
  • 10:05 AM: Address by the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies
  • 10:20 AM: Address and Formal Opening by the Vice-Chancellor
  • 10:40 AM: College Secretary/Deputy Registrar on revised regulations and timetables
  • 11:00 AM: Keynote: "Artificial Intelligence tools in Postgraduate Research and Scholarship" by Prof. Uzo Okoye
  • 12:00 PM: "Navigating the Nigerian Entrepreneurial Ecosystem" by Prof. (Mrs.) A. B. C. Ezeibe
  • 12:20 PM: "Optimal use of library resources in modern research" by University Librarian, Prof. (Mrs.) Promise Ilo
  • 12:40 PM: ICT Tools for Research presentation by Director, ICT, Mr. Paul Oranu
  • 1:00 PM: Postgraduate Welfare talk by Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. Christian Ezeibe
  • 1:20 PM: "Self-care and Care for Others" by the PG Hall Governor (Nsukka Campus)
  • 1:40 PM: Final Q&A/Reactions
  • 2:00 PM: Closing Prayer
