UNIUYO announces holiday, to resume on Tuesday March 24th

The management of the University of Uyo has announced a temporary closure of the institution following the declaration of public holidays by the Federal Government of Nigeria to mark the 2026 Eid al-Fitr celebration.

According to an official notice issued by the Directorate of General Administration on March 18, 2026, Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026 have been declared public holidays. In line with this directive, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Samuel G. Odewumi, approved the closure of the university for normal academic and administrative activities during the period.

The announcement further stated that no official duties or academic engagements are to be scheduled on the affected dates. However, staff providing essential services are expected to continue their duties as required, while Heads of Departments have been advised to make suitable arrangements to allow such staff observe the holidays at a convenient time.

Normal academic and administrative activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

The university management also extended warm wishes to Muslim faithful within the community, expressing hopes for a joyful and peaceful Eid celebration.

The notice was signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie.
