UNIZIK calculation formula for the admission screening exercise, 2025/2026
This is to inform the entire University community and the General Public that Post-UTME, Direct Entry and other relevant Screening Examination for 2025/2026 admission exercise will be conducted with an automated O’level and UTME results grading system.
Candidates are advised to go to JAMB accredited CBT Centres / JAMB Offices and upload their O’level result(s) to JAMB CAPS Portal in other to be considered in the 2025/2026 admission exercise.
Please note that candidates should not use regular/ non JAMB accredited cyber cafes for results upload to JAMB CAPS Portal.
To avoid disqualification, candidates should ensure that they upload the same O’level result(s) to both JAMB CAPS and UNIZIK Portals.
In order to ensure transparency in the 2025/2026 admission exercise the following calculation formula will be used for the exercise:
UTME CANDIDATES:
Candidates will be screened based on their UTME scores and O’level results for the four subjects taken in UTME. The following considerations will apply:
A. RATIO – The ratio will be 70:30 i.e. 70% UTME score and 30% O’level subject score
70/100 = 0.7; 30/100 = 0.3
B. RANKING OF O’LEVEL RESULTS SCORES –
O’level results will be ranked as given below:
A1 = 90, B2 = 80, B3 = 70, C4 = 60, C5 = 55, C6 = 50, D7, E8 and F9 = 0
Awaiting Result (AR) = 0
For each candidate, the O’level subjects used will be the subjects the candidate sat for in UTME.
E.g. for a candidate who sat for English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry in UTME, the grades obtained in candidate O’level results in these subjects will be used to calculate the O’level points obtained.
C. BONUS – A candidate who credited four O’level subjects in a single sitting will be awarded a bonus of 10 points (i.e. Bonus = 10).
A candidate who credited his four O’level subjects in two sittings will get no bonus (i.e. Bonus = 0).
D. CALCULATIONS –
Final score = (UTME score × 0.7) + {(O’level score + Bonus) × 0.3}
ILLUSTRATIONS:
A student scored 285 in UTME and had O’level results distributed as given in the table below:
Subjects – UTME Score – O’level Results – O’level Scores
-
English – 70 – B3 – 70
-
Biology – 65 – A1 – 90
-
Physics – 75 – C4 – 60
-
Chemistry – 75 – B2 – 80
Total: 285 (UTME), 300 (O’level)
i. Single Sitting
Final Score = Weighted UTME score + Weighted O’level score
(285 × 0.7) + {(300 + 10) × 0.3}
= 199.5 + 93
= 292.5
ii. Two Sittings
Final Score = Weighted UTME score + Weighted O’level score
(285 × 0.7) + {(300 + 0) × 0.3}
= 199.5 + 90
= 289.5
Note: The difference between the final screening scores of a candidate who credited his four O’level subjects in a single sitting and candidate who made it in two sittings is 3 (i.e. 292.5 – 289.5).
