UNIZIK security department issues ban on Knock-Outs (Bangers) During Yuletide and Beyond
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka - The Security Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has issued a stern directive reiterating the ban on the use of knock-outs (bangers) by all members of the University Community. This ban is effective immediately and extends throughout the Yuletide season and indefinitely beyond.
The directive, signed by the Chief Safety Officer, Ken Chukwurah, is in line with the federal government directive on the ban of the use of knock-outs.
To prevent unnecessary panic and tension around the UNIZIK neighborhood.
The use of these explosives often causes fright, especially as they can be mistaken for gunfire or other dangerous occurrences.
The Safety Department emphasized that the ban remains in full force and that they will enforce extant laws prohibiting the use of knock-outs throughout this period.
The statement concluded with an assurance: "The safety department is committed to ensuring a safe and conducive environment for learning and research."
All students, staff, and residents within the UNIZIK community are strongly advised to adhere strictly to this directive to maintain peace and safety throughout the campus and its environs. Violators will be held accountable under the relevant laws and university regulations.
