The Management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), through the Office of the Deputy Rector (Academics), has released a critical update regarding the ongoing 2025/2026 registration exercise for Higher National Diploma (HND I) students.

In an internal memo dated March 27, 2026, the college expressed concern over the number of HND I students who have not yet finalized their registration. To address this, strict new guidelines have been implemented for lecture attendance:

  • Matriculation Numbers Only: Only students who have been issued official matriculation numbers are permitted to sign attendance sheets during lectures.
  • Restriction on YCT Numbers: Students still using temporary "YCT Numbers" are explicitly barred from appearing on official attendance lists.
  • Instruction to Academic Staff: Deans have been directed to ensure that HODs and Lecturers enforce these rules immediately across all schools.

The management is urging all affected students to proceed with and complete their registration without further delay. This directive aims to streamline academic records and ensure that only fully registered students are recognized in the system.

This directive has been circulated to the Deans of all major faculties, including:

  • School of Agriculture
  • School of Arts, Design & Printing
  • School of Engineering
  • School of Environmental Studies
  • School of Liberal Studies
  • School of Management & Business Studies
  • School of Science
  • School of Technology
