YSU student slumps and dies after writing exam

Friends and family of a student of the Yobe State University (YSU) Damaturu, Maryam Lawan Goroma, have taken to social media to pay their tributes after the student died shortly after writing an examination. 

Maryam, who is a student of the Chemistry Department was said to have slumped on Thursday evening, April 27, 2023, and was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead by medics. 

A tribute posted by one of her classmates, Bukar Maisandari, said Maryam was hale and healthy before her sudden death. However, one Abubakar Zaid, who is also believed to be a classmate, said Maryam had complained of stomach upset during the exam. 

Her funeral prayer is scheduled for Friday, April 28, at the family residence in Sabon Fegi, Damaturu.
