PLACE OF TWITTER AS A SOCIAL MEDIUM FOR INFORMATION DISSEMINATION
Abstract
The research explores Twitter as a medium of communication among University of Lagos. There is no doubt about the fact that the world is in a global village. Today the world is now compressed into a single electronic room where information from far and near are exchanged with a click of mouse and touch of screen. Survey as a quantitative research method was adopted. Data were collected using questionnaire in eliciting responses from Unilag students Akoka. Probability sampling technique through multi stage sampling (simple random and systematic) was used to select respondents. The data collected were analysed and interpreted using Descriptive Statistics (frequency and percentage table. It was recommended thatTwitter and other social media users should ensure they understand why they are joining a particular social media site in the first place so that it will not in any way have negative impacts but rather maximum its benefit.
