How to Install & Use BBM on lower versions of Android devices.

Some days ago, I published a post on How you can root your andriod phone. Now is the right time to apply that skill. Recently, Blackberry released an andriod & iOS version of its messenger (BBM) which have recorded a huge success as they recorded about a million downloads in the first 24 hours.
However, the release of this application was not favorable to all andriod users as BlackBerry placed a restriction on this application to be compatible with devices running on andriod 4.0 and above. Due to this restriction, devices running on andriod versions less than 4.0 can not enjoy this app.Today, I will be teaching you how you can install and use this BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) on lower versions of andriod devices.

 Before I proceed, Please Note:

  • Some people commented that this method worked for them while few commented that it never worked for them so the choice is yours. Nevertheless, I recommend that you try it out, who knows it might work for you
  • Also note that your device must have at-least 512MB of RAM size for this method to work.

Procedure:

  • Root your andriod phone
  • Upgrade the version of your andriod device to a higher version. For instance, upgrade from andriod 2.2 Froyo to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwish.
  • After a successful upgrade, you should now be able to install and use BBM on your device. Just visit Google Play from your device to download this app.
However, if after a successful Rooting and Upgrade, you are still unable to install this app, then you need the help of an application known as Market Helper.
Market Helper is an application that helps andriod users to Mask/Fake the identity of their rooted phone form one phone to another. For instance, you can mask Tecno N3 to appear as Samsung Galaxy S2. By doing this, Google Play will now recognize your Tecno N3 as Samsung Galaxy S2 and thus present you with the services/apps of Samsung Galaxy S2 instead of that of Tecno N3. Now lets proceed.
  • Download & Install Market Helper
  • Lunch the application, Select device and follow further instructions.
  • Activate & Reboot your device.
  • Now, log-on to Google Play and see if you will be granted access to the BBM download page. If your access is granted, simply click the Install button and you are done. Alternatively, you may download the modified APK BBM file (12.67MB) and use it on your device.
Have you done it?, Did it work for you?, Do you have any suggestion or question?, Do you have any other method of using BBM on lower versions of Andriod devices?..... Please let us know about it via the comment box.

Thanks for going through this post. Hope that this helps. Please feel free to drop your comments and questions below, we love to hear from you.
